Redstar Audio is an independently-owned, guitar and
bass speaker cabinet manufacturing company located in Houston, TX.
Redstar Audio was formed over three years ago out of our love of building
speakers, and our belief that the speaker industry serving musicians had
lost a lot of it's passion for their products. We believe that as more
and more of the designs were outsourced, and manufacturing moved
overseas across the globe, the manufacturers lost their connection to both
the artists and their craft. And every layer of product marketing,
focus groups, and demographics that was inserted by those mass manufacturers
was just one more disconnect with the person sweating on the product in the
last song, third set.
Another thing that crossed our minds was, when did all those "dangerous"
rock and roll brands become household names? Wasn't there a time when
only the musicians that were living in those worlds had heard of them?
Whatever happened to feeling like an insider? Whatever happened
to having other players come up after a gig and share stories about how they
heard from someone, who heard from someone else, about some company that
made the ultimate amp, or pedal, or cab? Whatever happened to building
a rig that some clueless rich kid with their dad's credit card couldn't
reproduce in 10 minutes of online shopping? Is it possible that there
was a time when it was actually cool to NOT see a brand in a video game?
Is it possible that there was a time where you could actually choose NOT to
buy the from the exact same inventory, in the exact same store layout, as
everyone else? It's incredible how much things have changed, and not
always for the better.
At Redstar Audio, we aimed to change that, at least in our little slice of
the world. We started building bass cabinets, since that's what we
knew best, and we began experimenting relentlessly with different materials,
fabrication methods, and techniques to see just how far we could push our
designs. The result was our innovative use of bracing and materials
on the interior of our cabinets, and our obsession with putting real
engineering into our products, not just handing a spec sheet to an OEM
manufacturer and letting them figure it out for us. We source all our
components directly from domestic US suppliers and do all final assembly, QC
and shipping right here in the Houston, TX. Our products are 100%
designed, cut, assembled, and tested in America.
We recognize that every musician has a choice, and that choice is special.
There are lots of other companies out there that make fine products, but we
don't think any of them offer as much innovation, risk, edginess, or
excitement as we do. And at the end of the day, that's what keeps us
going, and our customers coming back.
